The 2026 Session of the General Assembly is well underway. I’ve been able to go to the Capitol twice so far and I’ll be back more but in between I’m watching bills and submitting written testimony on some as I can. Here are a couple of bills that I’m watching and my thoughts.

Bills I’ve submitted testimony on:

HB 1667 and HB 2294 – Both these bills mandate that a child born alive during or after an abortion or attempted abortion will have the same rights, privileges, and immunities as any other person.

HB 2688 is a bill that states unborn children at every stage of development are entitled to the protection of rights guaranteed under the Fifth and Fourteenth amendments of the Constitution of the United States.

HJR 173 and HJR174 – Both these bills look to eliminate the state income tax by 2031.
